82.50??!!

sundays are our date-day because during the week, he work late a few days or i'll be too tired to go out at night. plus i have to get up really early because i have two 9 am classes, one 8 am class, and one 8 am placement. so mondays are the only day that i get to sleep in. but i've realized that because i get up so early the rest of the week, i can't sleep longer than 8 am. no matter how tired i am, i just can't fall back asleep after 8.

yesterday we were deciding on lunch and once again we had too many choices. in the end we decided on yum cha. usually we would eat at Taipan which is in Doncaster or some other places in the suburb. but because we don't have the car so this time we decided to try the one in Chinatown. what a mistake!

we managed to snag the last and unreserved table for two because we didn't make a reservation and weekends are their busiest days. we were so hungry that we ordered whatever we felt like having. when it was time to pay the bill, we got the shock of our lives! we thought that it wasn't our bill and the cashier made a mistake. but nope, it was our bill. hence, the title for this post

it was $82.50! $82.50!
i still can't believe that the bill for 2 people came up to $82.50!

unbelievable! we were in shock! the only time we had an expensive meal was during our 1st year wedding anniversary. and that was only because it was a special occasion so we were willing to indulge ourselves a little bit.

we were wondering why didn't they allow those people who didn't make any reservations get a table since there were a few empty ones. clearly those that made reservations were late or had a change of mind. but they refused to let the walk-ins get a table. now we know why. it's because they charge so crazily expensive that they could afford to let costumers walk away.

never again will we go back to that dim sum place. never! never ever!

that's the sticky part of trying new places isn't it? sometimes we get to find a place that we'll definitely return again or in this case....never return again!

but thank God. He has provided us with an extra bit of cash for us to learn from our mistakes. for now, we'll stick to eating at places that we know are cheaper.

p.s: once again, i'm procrastinating from doing my assignments :p and now it's time to eat lunch :)

retail therapy

this year we've decided to do less shopping and more saving. we need $$ for our visa application and we want to travel as much as possible before we try for children.

last year we roughly counted our expenditures and realized that we could have saved a lot if we hadn't bought as much as we did.

but i've got to say that i'm finding it really difficult and challenging to stop spending. i realize that ever since we've made that decision, i keep on getting emails of sale offers which is pretty often i must say. every week i get a couple of them. it's making me go insane especially since i've been quite stressed out with my studies. i either eat or shop to take the stress away.

i don't want to eat because i'm trying my very best to lose weight.
i can't shop because we're trying to save.

i'm trying to come up with valid reasons to shop to propose to the husband :)

****************************

on a different note, i've been feeling really tired lately. this week wasn't so bad because my 8 am class (which is the earliest class of the week) got canceled. the travelling and waking up early has taken a toll on me.

i have to wake up around 5-6 am to get ready for class or placement. by the time i get back, i'm so tired to do any assignment at all. on the weekends, there's grocery shopping and church so i don't get to sleep in. well, we can go for the later service but then the rest of the day will be gone.

now i should be doing some uni work but i just can't be bothered. my brains are too tired to function.

this is not good

oh wells. i'll rest as much as possible tonight and i will definitely do my assignments tomorrow! :)

discussions

Last night we discussed what I would want for my birthday. I could choose between a present or a trip somewhere.

Previously, we've decided that every half a year, we would travel somewhere and go on a holiday. But I think, it's going to be once a year kinda thing because travelling costs so much money!

I said I would want to go for a holiday since I've been feeling really stressed out and am constantly tired ever since my semester started. So he asked where would I wanna go. I said hmmm, maybe Whitsundays, Tasmania, Wilsons Promontory. Each of the suggestions I made, he kept giving me reasons not to go there. First it's flight tickets, accommodation, travelling time or expenses. So I said fine, I don't know where else to go

I was on the verge of saying I don't want anything for my birthday then!! But I want so many things for my birthday

So I said okay fine. I don't know where else to go anymore since you shot down all of my suggestions

He said okay! Let's go to Gold Coast then!

I couldn't believe it! Gold Coast??? That's where HE wants to go. Not me!! Sheesh!! In the end, we didn't settle for a destination yet

Maybe I'll ask for a present instead of travelling. But but but.... we made a promise to travel every 6 months and I LOVE travelling!!! If you don't already know

gelato night

We went out for a short stroll and gelato tonight.

Haven't been going out much during the week. We've just been too tired or lazy to go out anymore. We can't be in the old married couple phase already right??? Come on!!

We've decided to do more spontaneous things and trips before kids come into the picture
By then, we will be forced to sleep early or even as much as we can and not have spontaneous plans as often anymore

overwhelmed

this is week 4 of the semester. week 4! can you believe it? how can time pass so quickly? this is amazing!

haven't been having the mood to go for class lately. i find that whenever i'm finishing my course (segi diploma, diploma here), i would be too lazy to go for classes.

this year was no different. this is my last year of uni! if anyone tries to talk me into studying some more, i'll just kill them. serious! i'm done studying. people say that studying is way more fun than working... blablabla! i've had enough of studying. enough enough enough

as you can tell from my nonsense rant, i'm procrastinating. i'm too lazy to start with my assignments, so here i am. writing nonsense so that i don't have to start with my assignments. i guess worrying has gotten the better of me. i think i'm gonna start with some of my work now. hate this!

i need a holiday! stat!

something about me

today I realized a little something about myself. actually, it's been a while that I've become aware of this part of myself. I've never really thought much about it until today.

you see, I'm quite an introverted person. I don't really like to talk about myself, what's been happening, or even share things about myself. In a conversation, whenever someone asks about me and what's been happening, I'll definitely tell them something but nothing below the surface. Everything will be short and simple. I like to listen which more often than not, it creates a difficulty for me to find friends.

in order for me to find a friend, I would have to spend a whole lot of time with them. in the beginning, there'll be loads of silence if the other person is like me, quiet. but if the other person is talkative, the situation might seem a little less awkward but in time, I will talk more than I would in the beginning.

sometimes when I talk with extroverted people, I wish that I could be like them, smooth talkers. they seem to know what to say, like a good come back or a comment or an opinion about something.

I'm not like that, especially if I'm not close to them, I find it hard to respond or give my opinions.

something happened today which made me feel worse than I usually do. during tutorial, we were broken up into groups to brainstorm a task. everyone was confused as to what was expected of the task. but after the lecturer explained, I understood but the rest of my group didn't. they tried to solve the question the wrong way and the whole time I was trying to explain to them and tell them that that's not what we were supposed to do. but nope, nobody wanted to listen to me. nobody even acknowledged that I was speaking (btw, this has happened quite a number of times in my classes here).

so anyway, when they were halfway through finding the answer, they realized that that's not what was required. so, we had to start all over again; or rather they, because at that point of time I just didn't wanna give anymore inputs.

sometimes I just wonder what is wrong with me
