Yesterday was day 1 of our 1st anniversary weekend. We've been looking forward to this trip and the trip back home for ages. It's finally here and we're trying to savor every moment
The drive took less than 2 hours and though we left later than planned, we arrived before 1.30 pm. We didn't do much on the first day. Walked around town, went to the information centre, then we went to Coles to get some groceries to get ingredients for our dinner and breakfast this morning
We didn't really plan properly that's why we forgot to bring salt and pepper to cook aglio olio for our dinner last night. It was tasty for me because I don't really fancy salty food. We wanted to make scallop aglio olio but we couldn't find it so we had to improvise. We made sausage and mushroom aglio olio instead. It was delicious
We didn't do much after dinner. In our room we have a spa, so we relaxed in there after an hour of our very heavy dinner. We were even provided with bath salts! Btw, there weren't any walls to our toilet. If you can see, it's glass instead of walls and there's surround sound throughout the villa, including the toilets. We were relaxing while watching Foxtel. Oh, such is life.
i miss this spa so much. on our last night, i was so reluctant to get out of it
After that, we watched a little bit of tennis. Federer lost!! :(
Our "home" for the 4 days that we were there. When we bought the vouchers from Groupon, we didn't read the conditions properly. The original price to stay at the place costed around $1200 or more for 4 days 3 nights. But we only paid $400+. However, one of the conditions were that there will be additional costs for weekend stays. Without realizing that, we made the bookings for the 24th - 27th January which included 3 weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). How silly of us. It's so common for the both of us to make such mistakes. In the end, we paid around $500+ which we still safe considering the actual price we would've to pay.
Also, before we bought the voucher, we went to the website to check out some photos of the place (just in case the place is really dodgy). We really liked the place especially since it's a 5 star luxury self contained villa. Like hello...!!! 5 STAR!!! Without second guessing, we bought the vouchers and emailed the place to make our bookings. That's when we found out that we would have to pay the extra chargers for the weekend. Oh wells, our anniversary has its pros and cons. Pros is because every year on the 26th is a public holiday because it's Australia Day. Cons is because it's a public holiday. So everywhere we go might cost more than it's supposed to.
We planned this trip in advance because immediately after we get back from our trip, we rested and pack for our trip back to KL for CNY. We also wanted to celebrate on the days round our anniversary as well. So we had no choice but to decide on such dates.
When we saw the photos of the place, we fell in love with it. Not just because it's 5 star but because it looked so secluded and high class. The architect is supposed to be some well known architect.
Having said that, the moment we arrived at the place, the wonderful, awesome husband that I married, said that the place looked like containers. "Yay! We're going to live in a container for the next few days", he said. Oh, how hard I smacked him right after those words came out of his mouth.
Gone were the excitement for me because instead of thinking of a 5 star luxurious self-contained villa, I felt like I was in some run down place where I had to go to the toilet in the woods.
The walk way leading to our villa. The villas were grouped 2 by 2
Where we stayed were really good actually because the bathhouse that I wanted to go to were just a few minutes walk away
