japanese food

As usual, I will start writing bout something but never actually completing it. Didn't complete the posts for the Tasmania trip and Great Ocean Road. Lol oh wells.

Last night my brother bought us all dinner for my mum's belated birthday. We went to this secluded Japanese restaurant in the city. It only has a tiny door without any shop name at all. It only seats 20 people and it's underground. It's a wonder anyone found out about this restaurant at all

This costs $12. It's only small diced salmon, avocado, fish eggs, cucumber in a wasabi mixed with something else sauce

Seared fish with mixed vegetables. Whatever I'm describing is obviously not what was like on the menu. It sounded much nicer on the menu but it came to be so simple and small

The waitress actually suggested that each person should order 3-4 dishes because it's all entree size. And boy was it quite small

Agedashi tofu

Yellowfin tuna sashimi. I'm not a fan of raw seafood but this was amazing. Melt in your mouth kind of amazing!!

I've never had delicious scallops before. It's always a little too fishy for my liking. But this...this...this was lovely! Perfectly cooked that it just melted in your mouth yet springy too. We ordered this dish for a second round

Snapper, corn, and sweet potato tempura

Diced steak. The meat wasn't that good. Some where tender but some were a lil too tough

Duck with some brinjal and vegetables

We ordered two tasting plates of sake. One room temperature and one cold. Can't remember which one is which already

Second round of sake

Rice with plum and another with salmon. Both were really good! But felt like I was eating porridge. So not worth the $8

All in all it was a good experience. But don't think I'll go back again. Seeing that it costs so much for such small portions. I guess I'm too used to having served huge portions

Btw, received our parcel today from Havaianas. I liked the packaging that it came in. Our very first Havaianas. I love our wedding color theme so much that I'll buy anything grey and pink.

After the wedding, I seem to find that I actually have loads of grey and pink things. No wonder we chose that as our color theme

even our blog theme is grey and pink :)
